Zap-A-Dee-Doo-Dah
You’d think a guy who made a great living using words effectively could come up with something better than “Zap” to describe the most significant event in his life, but Zap it is. Zap! So excited that I couldn’t stand still. Zap! So filled with joy that I wanted to shout to the world! Zap! Totally at peace for the first time in my life. As I write this, a song pops into my mind: Anybody remember the opening lyrics of that great Disney song, “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” from the movie Song of the South?
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Me, oh my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It's the truth, it's actual
Ev'rything is satisfactual at peace
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day, yes sir!
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It's the truth, it's actual
Ev'rything is satisfactual
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Marvelously uplifting words that almost exactly describe the overwhelming feeling of exhilaration and exultation that came over me with the arrival of Christ into my life. I say almost exactly because Mister Bluebird never descended on me. The Holy Spirit, yes…Mister Bluebird, no. But let’s not quibble: I felt then and I feel now that I had been zapped by God.
I realize that the conversion experience is different for each individual. For some, faith comes over a period of time, for others it takes extensive Bible study. With me, God knew that He was dealing with a self centered, hard charging, hard headed cynic without much patience. He knew it was going to take really dramatic action to get my attention. Hence: The Zap. It worked.
Having surrendered myself to Christ, I knew that life for me was never going be the same: I was going to have to change everything about myself. I was going to have to become a new man. It’s like I was going to have to get reborn. I should have been terrified, but I wasn’t: I couldn’t wait. My, oh my, what a wonderful day! Plenty of sunshine headin' my way.

Epilogue
A London businessman had a warehouse property he was selling. The building had been empty for months and needed repairs. Vandals had damaged the doors, smashed the windows, and strewn trash around the interior. As he showed a prospective buyer the property, He took pains to say that he would replace the broken windows, bring in a crew to correct any structural damage, and clean out the garbage. "Forget about the repairs," the buyer said. "When I buy this place, I'm going to build something completely different. I don't want the building; I want the site."
Compared with the renovation God has in mind, our efforts to improve our own lives are as trivial as sweeping a warehouse slated for the wrecking ball. When we become God's, the old life is over (2 Cor. 5:17). He makes all things new. All he wants is the site and the permission to build.

Joke du Jour
One day two angels were travelling through some villages. Along the way, they noticed a man deep in meditation. The man's face was lit up in wonder. Apparently, the man had just discovered something on the ground in front of him. The first angel, noticing the glow emanating from the man, asked the second if he knew what it was the man had discovered. The second angel replied, "He has discovered a piece of truth."
“Then why aren’t you thrilled?” exclaimed the first, "Doesn't it excite you when someone finds a piece of the truth?"
"No," said the second. "I am not excited in the least."
"But why not?" insisted the first. "Because," he replied, chuckling, "Right after they discover some truth, they usually turn into a new denomination."

Ex-millionaire happier without his cash
A millionaire who gave away all his cash to charity two years ago because it didn't make him happy has told how he's finally found contentment. Businessman Karl Rabeder, 49 - from Telfs, Austria - sold his business, a luxury Alpine mansion, limos and sports cars, a private plane and donated the cash to a charity that sponsors small loans to customers in the Third World who would never be given cash by a bank. He now lives on $1,400 a month from fees for talks to businessmen about his new life and is buying a modest home. "Only now am I happy. If you write down the things that really make you happy and their cost, you will realize what I mean," said Rabeder. "Love, sunshine, fresh air - those are the things that make me happy," he added. And he thanked the charity for taking his cash and finally letting him enjoy life. "Having only a little money makes me happier. Seeing pictures of me back then as a millionaire, I look so miserable," he said.Man admits to burning cross to save marriage In an unusual attempt to avoid a divorce with his white wife, a black man admitted to burning a cross on the driveway of their Panama City, Fla., home in a Klu Klux Klan-inspired plan, News Herald reports. LB Williams, 50, told police he wrote a note signed by the KKK, that his wife found taped to the house two days after the cross was set alight. His wife, who had filed for divorce, paraphrased the letter taped to the door of the house: "They were watching us. I assumed me and the kids, and that I better not leave that (N-word)," Donna Williams told the newspaper. Williams said she found it unusual that the white supremacist group would support interracial marriages and called the cops. Initially, police launched a hate crimes investigation until LB Williams confessed on Monday, the paper reported, a few days after the cross was burned. He is charged with domestic violence stalking and exhibits that intimidate.
Count the wrinkles! Members of a Massachusetts church said a calendar featuring primarily nude, male seniors has been an effective fundraiser for the congregation. The First Parish in Framingham, a Unitarian Universalist congregation, said about two dozen of its older members posed nude with items strategically covering their private parts for the "Celebration 2012 Calendar," the Boston Globe reported Thursday. "These are people who were involved for many years in our community, and they got involved with the project to help out,'' said Eva Benda, who coordinates marketing for the church. "And they bared all. And it's wonderful.'' Janet Drake, 76, the lone female featured in the calendar, was depicted in the image having her picture taken by nude photographer Walter Barker, 81

Point to Ponder
Being Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff...including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves
you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see Happy Thanksgiving!
