And thus begins a journal of my adventure with God

        God and Ed’s Excellent Adventure

And thus begins a journal of my adventure with God; an adventure filled with ups and downs and lot’s of in-between’s. An excellent adventure that continues to amaze me.

Who am I? Nobody special. A recovering Radio/TV Talk Show host who enjoys talking and sharing with people…only now it’s on the internet instead of on the radio. I write about what’s going on around me, share my thoughts and reflect upon this excellent adventure with God. Everyone loves inspiring stories, so I share lots of those. I also love to laugh…so I collect jokes, funny stories, and weird news.

Beginning at the beginning is usually a good place to begin

“If these are the Christians, I’m throwing in with the lions! These are the meanest people I’ve ever known!”

I actually said that…and believed it…for years before I met and started walking with God. My family was not very religious; we went to church on Easter and Christmas and that was pretty much it.
Ahhh, but my Mother’s family was another story, entirely. They belonged to a church which believed that if you were not part of their denomination, you were going to burn in Hell. And so, they took turns visiting me to share all the ways I was doomed to suffer in the afterlife. Needless to say, after years of being told that I was going to be turned into a crispy critter by a really angry old man in a white beard, I developed a fierce allergy to that part of my family and to anything having to with Christianity. I’m sure they meant well and sincerely believed what they were saying. For me, all it accomplished was to keep me AWAY from Christ for years. And so I said: “If these are the Christians, I’m throwing in with the lions! These are the meanest people I’ve ever known! ”

Of course I no longer feel that way…with the possible exception of Todd Phelps, the moron from Topeka who calls himself a Christian while spewing hatred and picketing soldier’s funerals. Given a choice between Phelps and a hungry lion…I’d still rather hang out with the lion.

        Epilogue

You are writing a gospel, a chapter each day, By the deeds that you do, by the words that you say; Men read what you write, whether faithless or true. So---what is the gospel according to you” Paul Gilbert

        A semi-interesting fact

Humans begin laughing at two to three months of age. Six year olds laugh about 300 times per day, while adults laugh from 15 to 100 times per day.

        Thought for the Day

Experience enables you to recognize a mistake every time you repeat it.

        Joke Du Jour
A little boy opened the big and old family Bible with fascination, and looked at the old pages as he turned them. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible, and he picked it up and looked at it closely. It was an old leaf from a tree that had been pressed in between the pages.
"Momma, look what I found," the boy called out.
"What have you got there, dear?" his mother asked.
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered: "I think it's Adam's underwear!”

        Really??
A Chicago man held up a bank and demanded just one dollar because he wanted to go to prison to get medical care! After the robbery, the man waited inside the bank for the police to come and arrest him.

In recent years, carnival food vendors have been trying to outdo each other for the weirdest fried snack. Now, "Chicken" Charlie Boghosian, who created deep-fried Klondike Bars and Pop Tarts for previous San Diego County Fairs, has a new one: Deep-Fried Kool-Aid. It's a serving of five donut holes mixed with Kool-Aid powder for flavoring.

Success is in the eye of the beholder

W.A. Criswell was a world famous pastor during his tenure at First Baptist Church of Dallas. Through his sermons, evangelism, and the many books he wrote, literally thousands of lives were won to Christ. In his biography, author Billy Keith tells an interesting story about the man who led Criswell to the Lord. When W.A. was ten years old, an evangelist named John Hicks came to town. W.A. went with his mother to hear Hicks preach. He was totally enthralled with every word Hicks spoke. When Hick’s gave the altar call, the young boy went forward and, tearfully received Christ as his Savior. Years later, Criswell told this story to a friend of his. The friend said, “I just can’t imagine that, Johnny Hicks was a dear friend of mine and I was with him at the hospital when he died. As I sat beside him, he said, ‘My life is over, my preaching days are done, and I’ve never done anything for Jesus. I’ve failed, I’ve failed.’” Those were the last words the old preacher ever spoke. He died without knowing how much he had done for the cause of Christ and how many lives he had indirectly changed with that one conversion.

        Remember
Christianity is more about walking than about talking
